St Andrews Methodist Church, Sheringham
Flower Festival 2023
`A Year in Flowers` was held in May
JANUARY
Snow & Frost
This month is often a time for snow, frost and ice. Yet, what beauty there is in snow covered trees and shrubs, in glistening icicles.
FEBRUARY
Valentines Day
A day when many people show love to one another with roses and cards.
The greatest love of all, though, is God`s love for us,
`For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.`
(St. John 3:16)
MARCH
Pancake Day
At the start of the period of Lent, 6 weeks before Easter each year, is Shrove Tuesday, which is the day when many people make
pancakes, some even having pancake races!
APRIL
Easter
The time when we remember the suffering that Jesus went through. Of his death on the Cross and then the glorious news on that first Easter morning, of the resurrection. `Christ is Alive!`
(St. Luke chapters 22-24)
MAY
The Coronation of King Charlies III
A very special month this year,
with the celebrations for the
Coronation of King Charles III
JUNE
Wimbledon Tennis
A time that a lot of people look forward to, as well as the strawberries and cream!
JULY
Carnivals & Festivals
Whether it`s a huge carnival with big floats and fancy dress, or a flower festival in a little chapel, what an amount of work goes into putting on something to give enjoyment to others.
AUGUST
Holidays by the Sea
A time to get deckchairs out, make sandcastles and explore rockpools; or to paddle or swim in the sea. It is good to have a few days break from the routine of everyday life.
To enjoy all the natural world around us.
SEPTEMBER
Starting College
A big step for a lot of young people is leaving home to start their courses at colleges and
universities. And perhaps an anxious time for parents and carers too. We need to remember that our loving God is always with us in all we do and will see us through.
OCTOBER
Harvesting
Towards the end of the year, and the crops from fields and farms, orchards and gardens are
getting safely gathered in, and we give thanks to God for all the goodness he provides for us.
NOVEMBER
Remembrance
In this month we remember loved ones on
All Saints Day, All Souls Day, and light a candle on the cairn and on Remembrance Sunday we remember with poppies.
In all our Communion services we remember how at the Last Supper, Jesus took bread and wine and gave it to the disciples saying `Do this in remembrance of me`. (St. Luke 22:19-20)
DECEMBER
Advent & Christmas
A time of preparation; for many a time of writing cards, buying presents, making arrangements. A time of nativity plays and carol services, as we prepare and celebrate again the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
